Anushka Sharma was born on 1 May 1988 in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, is the child of Kumar Sharma and Ashima Sharma. Her father is an officer in the Colonel (retd.) and her mother works as a housewife. Her elder brother Karnesh Sharma was in the Merchant Navy and now is a film producer. Then, she signed on for three films with Yash Raj Films. She portrayed a bride who was young and tied to a man who was middle aged (the character Shah Rukh Khan was portraying). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka played Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the movie Badmash Company. The film received mixed praises. Anushka Sharma starred in the film "Band Baaja Baraat. She played the role of a Punjabi woman in the middle class, who has her own wedding company. The film received a positive review and was a surprise hit. Anushka's three-film deal with Yash Raj Films ended with the release of Band Baaja Baaraat.
